We are thrilled to announce our new investment in Cleveron, the smart solution to optimize energy use, reduce CO2 emissions and control air quality. The CHF 1.4 m Pre-Series A Round was co-led by Zentrum für Innovation und Digitalisierung Bernapark (“ZID”) and Serpentine Ventures, with the participation from 5 existing investors and 6 additional new individual investors.
Founded in 2017 by Pietro Gagliardi, Igor Gagliardi, and Simone Cogno, Cleveron provides a plug-in-and-play solution that, thanks to a proprietary algorithm, automatically control heating and adapts to user behavior. The solution is capable to save energy, monitor air quality and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% without costly renovation.
According to Ecofys, buildings contribute to 40% of energy use and 35% of CO2 emission in Europe, while 75% of building stock is old and energy inefficient. Meanwhile, regulations are driving the urgency for buildings to adopt more advanced energy management systems. Cleveron solves such pain points by offering an easy-to-install and smart solution with low upfront cost, saving energy bills and CO2 emissions for existing buildings in a cost-efficient way. At the same time, the solution can also integrate with air quality sensors to monitor the room air. This has become an even larger topic in Covid-19 times. Cleveron’s solution has been chosen by over 70 schools and governmental buildings in Switzerland and the system proved that energy savings of up to 30% are possible.
“We are excited that Serpentine Ventures joins the round, as the first VC on our Captable. Serpentine shares the same vision of the company and will fuel our growth yet further with their unique network and expertise.”, says Pietro Gagliardi, Co-founder and CEO of Cleveron.
Max Meister, General Partner of Serpentine Ventures, comments: “We believe there is a huge potential in Cleveron. The energy management market is gaining significant traction due to the emerging environmental awareness and regulations. Cleveron is well-positioned in the trending market, as it removes the upfront cost and time for renovation, while saving energy up to 30%. We are proud to support the Swiss-made solution to tackle the climate challenge and are looking forward to investing in more ESG startups. “
“Cleveron is a great addition to our portfolio. Their team struck us as highly capable and a great combination of visionary, entrepreneurial and technical skills. With their two current products they strike the nerve of the decade – air quality monitoring and CO2 emission reduction. We are looking forward to working together with the team and to support their mission.”, adds Guy Giuffredi, Investment Director at Serpentine Ventures.
We congratulate the Cleveron team and look forward to continuing the joint journey.
